Join us for the live chat & live correction session on June 18th, 2013 at 10 AM KST! (It might be the Monday, June 17th for many of our listeners. Click on the video player above so see exactly how many days and hours are left.) We are going to read sentences submitted by our listeners and show how to make them sound more natural through this live correction session.

If you want to practice speaking Korean more often and have some things you can say already, but do not know for sure whether they are “natural” sentences or not, come join us for this live chat!

How to participate:

1. You can write any kind of sentence here (in the comments below) in Korean.

2. You can write multiple times.

3. We will select some sentences and correct them during the live chat, and suggest more natural ways to say the same thing.

4. We will also choose sentences during the live chat, from the comments on YouTube and Twitter.

    I wanted to ask if something comes with noodle in a korean restaurant and i made something like:
    혹 시 xxx 는 ramyeon 를 함께 와 아니에요?
    which i think is very wrong (lol). How do i fix it please?

    I’ve only started learning Korean for a short while so if it’s completely off, don’t laugh. >_<

    • When it comes to just noodle without the soup, we call it 라면 사리.
      So you can say “혹시 ***는 라면사리도 같이 나와요?”.

    Is it more natural to say “잊었어요” or “잊어버렸어요?”

    Hello , I began to study Korean language about six months, however I still find some difficult in certain grammatical rules .I have exam next week and I wanted to inquire about the past
    for example if we want to say I read a book
    is it right to say 책을 읽었어요 Or 책을 읽었아요
    because I still have problems with the vowel 아 or 어

    • It’s 책을 읽었어요. Think of “-ᄊ어요” of a past tense mark.
      If you take a verb that is already conjugated in the present tense, you drop the -요 and you simply add “-ᄊ어요

      가다 -> 가요 -> 가 + -ᄊ어요 -> 갔어요.
      먹다 -> 먹어요 -> 먹어 + -ᄊ어요 -> 먹었어요.
      하다 -> 해요 -> 해 + -ᄊ어요 -> 했어요.

      I hope this was helpful. =)

    • Awesome!!

    How about “알아들어지만 생각하고 있어요”

    for “I understand, but I’m thinking” ?

    It would be useful to have a natural way of saying that I understood a question, but that it might (nevertheless) take me a moment to think of an answer.

    Can you guys make it informal for both?
    1)내가 당신을 다치게하지 마십시오.
    *Don`t make me hurt you.
    2)당신은 정말 당신을 좋아하지만 난 당신의 얼굴에 그것을 말할 수있는 것을 알고있다?
    *Do you know that I really like you but I can`t say it to your face?
    Thanks in advance ^_^v
