i got a question ,teacher, but first i should give u a brief introduction about me , i am new here ,and i am new in learning Korean,i really love Korean.and your lesson help me a lot,감사합니다! my question is 하다=할거에요? or 할거예요? i confused about 에and 예.so ……

    • Hong says: August 22, 2011

I’m korean but i confused about that too!!!!
      So i searched it
There is no -에요 in korean!!
And -예요 is abbreviation of -이에요
When there is final consonant before -예요 or -이에요
      You should use -이에요
When there isn’t, you should use -예요
So the right thing is 할거예요 becasuse 거 has no final consonant
      Or you can say 할것이에요
      both are same mening

I just finished Level 1! Had I found about this website sooner, I would’ve opted to self-study rather than enrolling in a formal class. I find the podcast very engaging and fun as oppose to a monotonous compact audio that I’m required to listen to. The chemistry of the hosts are impeccable. (Even though it’s scripted, they make it not quite obvious.)

Since I’m taking formal lessons and learning by the book, I was first introduced with using the formalities such as, “(으)심니까?/(스)ㅂ니다.” & “(으)십시오.” In Here, 이에요 / 예요 are used, so it was a bit confusing at first and I have to remind myself to interchange them every now and then.

    Now off to Level 2!

    감사합니다!

Thanks Dima for your comment. Let me correct some mistakes.

      > 오늘은 9시부터 11시까지 TTMIK에서 한국어를 공부했어요.

      선생님딜 거맙습니다~!
      >선생님들 고맙습니다~!

    • jinseokjin says: August 24, 2011

      어늘 > 오늘
      공보 > 공부
      선생님딜 거맙습니다~! > 선생님들 고맙습니다.

      Thanks for your comment.

    • jinseokjin says: August 24, 2011

    - 기숙사에서 교실까지 얼마나 걸려요?
    - 걸어서 15분쯤 걸려요.

    Is this right?

    정말 감사합니다!

    • jinseokjin says: September 8, 2011

      Correct! 정말 잘 했어요!

  25. Bobbi says: September 20, 2011

Please tell me if this is correct?

    I studied Korean today:
    오눌 저 한구거 공부했어요

Today I studied Korean from morning until night:
오눌 아침부터 밤까지 저 한구거 공부했어요

fyi I purposely skipped using a topic or subject marker particle anywhere because I am a bit unsure. In all examples I’ve seen it’s always the topic marking partial that is used with words like 오눌 and 저 is the subject marking partial ever used with words like these & if not why?

    Thanks!

  26. Bobbi says: September 21, 2011

Please tell me if I’m correct

    I studied Korean Today:
    오눌 저 한구거 겅부했어요

Today I studied Korean from morning until night:
오눌 아침부터 저녁까지 저 한구거 겅부했어요

I deliberately left the topic/subject particle because I was unsure. I notice that with words like 오눌 and 저 the topic marking particle is always used, I’ve never seen the subject marking particle used with these words. Is the subject marking particle ever used with words like 오눌 and 저 and if not why?

    Thank you always! :3

    • jinseokjin says: September 26, 2011

오눌 저 한구거 겅부했어요 > 오늘 저 한국어 공부했어요.

오눌 아침부터 저녁까지 저 한구거 겅부했어요 > 오늘 아침부터 저녁까지 저 한국어 공부했어요.

The subject and marking particles are omitted in the sentenes below for the ease of pronounciation, so you can also write those sentences with the particles.

      Let me write them,

오늘 저 한국어 공부했어요. > 저는 오늘 한국어 공부했어요.

오늘 아침부터 저녁까지 저 한국어 공부했어요. > 저는 아침부터 저녁까지 한국어 공부했어요.
