In this lesson we are talking about how to say a certain date in Korean. When talking about the dates, you use the sino-Korean numbers, along with the words 월 [wol] and 일 [il]. 내 생일은 5월 26일…24살이 될 거예요! We celebrate our birthdays on the date that we were born. This is really different than in Korea because everyone turns a year older on New Year’s Day, right? BUT! In Korea, I’d be turning 25 since I was born in 1986.

“몇 월 still has the word ‘몇’ independent from 일”

I think you got it wrong ^^ “몇 월” is which month not which day, the “몇” is still there, it’s just not there when you ask which/what day and that is “며칠”

Wow I didn’t know saying the months in Korean could be so easy. It is much easier to remember the number of the month dates than in english (which is my native language ㅋㅋㅋ).
It’s so convenient that the months in Korean have their month number in them. ^_^
ㅇㅋ let me try to get this right:
저는 새일이 12월 1일 이에요. I wanted to say (My birthday is December 1st —I didn’t know how to say 1992) and did I need to have “는” after 저?

Hello Wan, do you mind if I fix your answer? It was explained in a previous lesson, the korean uses the year first, then month and then the day, not the other way around so it would be.
오늘은 이십오일 오월 2010년 이에요 -> 오늘은 이천십(2010)년 오(5)월 이십오(25)일이에요.
And also I’m not sure about the question you made, I think it’s way better to say “오늘 몇 월 며칠이에요?”

By the way I have a question. I’ve been long wondering what is “CHO-I” which 현우씨 has sometimes mentioned as 경은씨’s last name? ( and it sounds that 경은씨 is not happy about that maybe.) Does she have two last names or does Korean people generally have two pronunciation for one same last name?
