i’m the 1st one again! 저 여러분보다 또 이겼네요! 하하하 제가 패하지 않아요. ㅋㅋ

  2. Tyler La says:

현우선생님 我有一个问题。 (sorry for the chinese I just don’t know how to say that in Korean.) 한국말에 “contractions” 있습니까? like for “아니야” the contraction is “아냐” 맞죠?

  3. Megumitch says:

    현우 오빠 always use ‘응’

그런데, 11/11 오늘은 빼빼로 데이예요! Happy 빼빼로 데이! ^^

    여러분 빼빼로 주세요 T^T hehe

  4. Thank you! Why is it that the books always teach let’s go as kapshida!

    • jinseokjin says:

갑시다 [gap-si-da], 가자 [ga-ja] both can be used for the meaning of “let’s go”. But 갑시다 is polite expression so you can use when you talk to elder person or in formal speech.

  6. Wynnie says:

경은 선생님 빨리 나아세요. ^_^; 내일은 진짜 쉬면 아마도 좋겠어요 … ㅎㅎ
질문이 있어요: 반말에는, honorifics을 쓸 수 있어요? (하세요 -> 하셔?) 있다면, 어떻게 해요? 없다면, 왜 그래요? ^_^; (i’m just curious, in that case. =P) 그리고, “honorifics”은, 한국어로 어떻게 말해요? [sorry, by the way, for any and all mistakes T_T]
이 레슨 아주 재미 있어요. =] 선생님들 감사합니다!

  7. 아 반말 진짜 재미있다!
나 한국에 있을 때 TTMIK Staff하고 같이 한국 식당에 가자! ㅋㅋ
    감사합니다! ^^

  8. 우리 한국말 공부를 포기하지 말자 !

  9. Jackson says:

안영하세요. 최경은씨 감기 걸렸어요?? 많이 아파요? 한국에서는 요즘 날씨가 추워요. 그래서 건강 조심하세요. Get well soon :) 저도 감기은 있어요. 저는 기침 심하고, 너무 머리가 아파요. 오늘 약국 가고, 약을 사고 있어요. 조금 걱정해요… but, I’m sure everything will be OK after a few days of rest :)

Sorry if there are mistakes, I didn’t have time to check my notes or the spelling of this :X

    • jinseokjin says:

      경은 누나 지금은 많이 나아졌어요.

      제가 약간만 고쳐드릴게요.

      그래서 건강 조심하세요.
      > 그러니까 건강 조심하세요.

      저도 감기은 있어요.
      > 저도 감기 걸렸어요.

  10. jon says:

Since I watch a lot of korean tv-shows i pick up a lot of 반말.

고마워 is often used as “thanks”. But sometimes they say 고마워요. What is the difference? I’m guessing it’s not 존댓말 just because you add 요 in this case? Am i right?

Same thing with 미안해. Sometimes they will say 미안 or 미안해 and sometimes they will say 미안해요. But 미안해요 is still 반말 right? Are there politeness levels within 반말 as well? 아이구……

    :)

    • Jackson says:

It depends on if you are talking to F4 or not … joking!

    • Irene says:

      Jon 씨, 안녕하세요

I read from a book….but not very sure if it is right.

고마워, 미안해 & 미안 —> casual form.

고마워요 & 미안해요 —-> polite form.

Anyone can confirm if the above is correct.

      감사합니다 TTMIK

      ^ ^

    • jon says:

Thanks for trying to answer, but it would be good if a native could clarify. ^^

They never answer my questions. I think they don’t like me. :(

    • jinseokjin says:

Jon, we don’t hate you. ^^ The comment which Irene wrote is right.

We often add -요 when we say something in polite expression.

      Casual form / Polite form
      가방 줘 / 가방 주세요.
      술 마셔 / 술 마셔요
오늘 우리 만나 / 오늘 우리 만나요

    • jon says:

Thank you seokjin for answering. But what i really wondered was about if certain words are strictly 반말 or 존댓말. I am aware that adding 요 makes it more polite. But does it make it 존댓말?

If i want to say “thank you” in 존댓말, can i say 고마워요 instead of 감사합니다?

And can i say 미안해요 instead of 죄송합니다?

  11. Samier says:

    안녕하세요 현우 씨 & 경은 씨

    선생님들을이 고마워요!!

    • jinseokjin says:

Verb ending 은 “어미” 라고 말하면 되요. 그렇죠 현우 형?

앞으로도 한국어 공부 열심히 해주세요. 화이팅~!

      선생님들을이 고마워요.-> 선생님들이 고마워요.

    저는어디에서한국어로유명한국시를잦을수도있어요? 저가한국시를정말읽고말하고있어요)

  17. Ed says:

    On these two examples:
    우리 내일은 쉬자
    같이 가자

Are 우리 and 같이 interchangeable? If I swap these two words would these sentences still make sense?

    Thanks.

    • jinseokjin says:

우리 means “we” and 같이 means “together” so I think they are not interchangeable.

So sometimes they are used together in a sentence.

      우리 같이 내일은 쉬자.

      우리 같이 가자.

      Like this.

  22. Ahuva says:

    Hello,
Thank you for a great lesson.
I would like to ask, how do I write “Let’s sit down”? 앉 + 자 (앉자)? or 앉아 (as I saw in some online translators)?
    Thank you.

    • jinseokjin says:

      Hi Ahuva,

For “let’s sit down”, you can say “앉자”.

When you want to order or ask someone to sit down, then you can say “앉아”.

    • Ahuva says:

Thank you so much for your quick reply.
I love learning Korean with TTMIK. You’re doing a great job.

  23. Oh no..this is scary! Because I think I will automatically say 응 or 운 without thinking about who is talking to me T^T Especially because in Japanese people say uun for yes and Korean and Japanese sometimes mix up in my head! Haha…ah. 현우 씨, 경은 씨, you guys are scaring me into never wanting to use 반말. ㅎㅎㅎ

  24. Francis says:

    응 괜찮아

    cool hehe

  25. Matt says:

    1. 건물 공사 안 하자 – Let’s not construct a building
