Where do you usually shop for clothes? Have you ever purchased clothes in a foreign country? Was it difficult to find the right size? Korea can be a shopping paradise for some, as there are cheap markets all over the place. However, for others it can be a nightmare, as finding the right size can be very difficult. In this episode of TTMIK Culture Ramblings, Charly (charlycheer), Stephanie and Hyojin talk about buying clothes. Enjoy!
In Korean, in order to say something like “if I have to eat cold french fries, I’d rather not eat” or “if I am buying a suit, I might as well buy a matching tie”, using the structure -(으)ㄹ 바에 is the easiest way to make your point clear. -(으)ㄹ 바에 is used to indicate that a second option is much better than the first (not eating is better than eating cold french fries), but it can also mean “as long as you are doing + V”. Listen to this lesson and read the PDF to find out more about how to use -(으)ㄹ 바에.
We get a lot of questions from ‘black people (We used the term black for the reason we talked about in the video ^^) ‘ asking if it’s safe to come to Korea. So, to answer that question, we invited Charly (CharlyCheer), who is a English teacher in Korea, and asked her to share her stories. We can’t say everyone has the same/similar experience as Charly but we hope this video can help many people if they are debating whether or not to come to Korea :) Enjoy!
