Membership Training (M.T.) is a special part of Korean culture where schoolmates or employees of the same office get together for a weekend trip to a nice place that seems miles away from the city. It is here where they knock back a few drinks with each other, experience forced fun, total embarassment, and some really awkward bonding. Do you have something like M.T. in your country?

Listen in as 석진 and 경은 share their experiences with 엠티.

  • I’m in the U.S. Army and recently for the single soldiers there was a “Mandatory Fun Day” and later this week will be a Brigade Organization Day WOoooooo

  • At Disney we call them ‘off-sites’. They usually last one full work day only and their main purpose is to help bonding with your peers. People are divided in groups for some activities and fun games. I remember having to build a couch that would support a person by only using balloons and tape! We also have something called ‘retreats’ that last many days and usually during the weekend but those are not about fun nor bonding. They take place when an important task, like rewriting a story, has to be solved.
