I have received presents both ways actually, but I like it more when the present it’s a surprise (even if I end up not liking it). Why? Because it’s awkward to say what I want – perhaps what I want it’s too expensive for them and if I point it out they’ll fell obligated to buy it.

Actually I find it better to drop hints lol on what I want and maybe I will get what I want without being too direct about it!! Because sometimes getting a surprise is just irritating and I won’t know if I will like it or not….rather just get what I want but only if its family then I will be direct like “I want that for my birthday” because family is cool but from a friend then I would just rather get a surprise present
