카드깡 [ka-deu-kkang] describe the act of paying with your credit card or debit card when you don’t have enough cash on you when you are eating or drinking with others, and then receiving the rest of the money for the bill from others in cash. This way, you get more cash in your wallet without going to the ATM or even when you don’t have any balance in your savings account.
If you want to know more about this word, it originally meant the act of withdrawing money with credit card and lending the cash to people in need of quick cash, at very high interest rates. But in more casual situations where you just hang out with your friends, when you short on cash, you can save your commission fees by not going to the ATM.

Great little lesson guys. Thanks! I am wondering how I would say this after lunch when we’re getting the bill. “카드깡 하세요?” or “카드깡 할수있어요?.” Jim.
If you are the one who use the card, you can say “제가 카드깡 할게요.”
저는 아직도 카드깡이 없는데 그거가 있을 거예요. 그리고 제가 카드깡이 있으면 사는 거 많이하죠!!! 헤헤헤

친구들과 나누어서 내려고 했던 돈을 카드로 다 지불하고, 친구들한테서 나머지 돈을 받을 때, 카드깡을 한다고 해요.
현금이 없을 경우 친구들과 식사를 하고 밥값을 자기의 카드로 계산을 합니다.
그런 다음 친구들에게 현금으로 밥값을 받는거에요.
실제 카드깡은 좋은 의미는 아닙니다.
금융질서 문란으로 처벌 받을 수 있으니 조심하세요.
친구 밥값 대신 내는 정도는 괜찮겠지만. ^^

영국에서 카드로 결제하면 편리해요.
그렇지만 가끔식 어떤 가게에서 카드로 결제할 수 없어요.

when my friends and i go out for meal together. one will pay and the rest transfer the money through online banking if we didn’t bring enough cash. haha. actually, sometimes we pay by card separately. most of us don’t bring much cash in our wallets except when we expect to spend a small amount or give some tips.
i wonder if it is convenient to pay by credit card in korea. it is convenient to pay by credit card in most shops in the UK and it is quite safe to do so. what about giving a tip? is it a custom to leave a tip in korea? these will be useful info when i visit korea soon! hehe.
In Korea, people don’t give tip. 한국에서는 팁을 주지 않습니다.
Because it is already included in the bill, you don’t need to worry about tip. ^^
저 카드깡 해 본 적 있었어요. 현금 없어서..러시아말로는 한마디로 설명할 수 없는 것 같아요..한국어 진짜 재미있어요 ^^
ㅎㅎ 우와 그 슬랭말이 정말 재미있군요.
제 학교에서는 교과선생님들이 회비제 하는데요: 한, 2달마다 회계가 (진짜 회계가 아니고 그냥 우리 중에 그 역할을 맡은 사람) 우리한테 2만원을 걷어요. 그 돈으로 과자도 사고, 매주 금요일에 간식도 (피자, 치킨 같은 것) 사요. 그 때 우리한테 돈을 요청하는 모습을 보고 “강탈하는 거에요?”라고 물어보고 회계가 “아니, 돈을 자발적으로 주는 거죠!”라고 대답해요. 이렇게 자주 서로 놀렸어요… 작년에 회계가 아주 순하고 귀여운 아가씨여서 강탈하는 이미지가 안 어울렸어요… 그런데 가장 순하게 생긴 사람도 범인이 될 수 있죠!
ㅋㅋㅋㅋ 만약에 한국 사람이 그 회계분에게 “강탈하는 거예요?” 라고 했다면, 아마 화냈을 거예요. ^^
