안녕하세요. 감사합니다!! Thank you so much for creating this website!! I have tried to learn other languages before, but got discouraged quickly because I couldn’t find a lesson plan that I could stick to. The way you have laid out the lessons with downloadable mp3′s that go along with pdf workbooks is really helpful, and easy to follow. Thank you!

gam-sa-ham-nida
Hi Zeinab,
Wow, few sentences are quite hard. :)
관심 means “interest”.
흥미를 가진 means “to be intrested in”
Regarding “이해 관계가 있는”, I rather undertand it as “to be connected to sth” or “to be related to sth”.
“사리에 좌우된”, hm… it is hard for me to explain but let me try.
“사리” is a kind a reason or logic and “~에 좌우된다” means “to be depend on sth”.
So the meaning is like “to be depend on the reason or logic”.
dear Mr jinseokjin
감사합니다

Hello. I’m Evelyn from the Philippines. I enjoy learning from your very informative site about Korean language. And I really appreciate your program.
I have some questions regarding Korean terms.
When will I use the terms 에관한& 에 관해
애 대한 &에대해
를/을/기 위한 &를/을/기 위해?
And also the suffix 던 {따랐던;숨겼던;받으셨던; etc…}
Thank you very for your help. I’m looking forward for the explanations of these terms, its usage or rules…
Regarding the ~을/을/기 위한, 위해, I hope you to check out this lesson. http://www.talktomeinkorean.com/lessons/level-3-lesson-17/
에관한& 에 관해
The meaning of the word is “about sth”. I think I often use them when I want to explain sth.
For example,
오늘은 사진에 관해 말 해 보겠습니다. Today I will talk about Photo.
이것은 공룡에 관한 책입니다. This book is about Dinosaur.

Hello TTMIK!
I would like you to know that your website is the best site I ever found. I am very thankful for all these lessons you are providing for free. I have printed the whole level 1 lessons and fortunately, I learned everything by heart in four days because they are very detailed, yet very easy to learn and understand.
See, I’ve been to Korea this December to join the KPOP World Festival in Changweon, and I emerged as the winner. That made me want to learn the Korean language more. Korea is a very nice country, and I would really love to go there once again, with fluency in Hangeul.
Thank you so much for everything Seonsaeng nims!

한국어 잘 쓰셨어요. :)
Regarding “나는 내 스스로 그것을 배웠습니다.” expression, it is hard to say this is wrong sentence but it is not that natural.
I may say “저는 스스로 한국어를 배웠습니다”.

문제 한개 있는대… “화장실 가고픔”동안, “픔”은 뭐예요? And, “열심히 공부함”동안 “함”은요?
으악, “동안”은 안 맞아요.
“있는대” → “있는데”, 그리고 “동안” → “속에”…
가고픔 and 공부함 is the noun form of the 가고프다 and 공부하다.
새해 복 많이 받으세요!

hello,
I have a question i would like to ask you guys, but for some reason the ‘ask our teachers’ page isn’t loading. Anyway i have started learning korean with your website and have found it a lot easier than other methods i have tried. So going through your pdf files i saw that you guys write in Hangul a lot. I wrote down these symbols but they took no meaning to me. Finally i tired of the romanizing system. I wanted to accurately pronounce words and read what i was learning. So i started learning Hangul with Koreanwikiproject. My friends also use your website to learn Korean, and we had a discussion on learning Hangul. She explained to me how she was learning the language first before she started learning Hangul. She had a great point. She said it was like how when you are a baby or toddler, you learned to speak before you learned to read or write. So finally getting to my question , after this long and surely uneeded explanation, Does learning Korean and Hangul in a pacific order effect the learning process and if so wich do you recomend i learn first?
thanks
Hi Desiree!
I’m not one of the teachers but i guess i understand your concern. First of all, the way you’ve learned your mother tongue is not the same you learn foreing languages (at less you learn them all in childhood) the brain change the way to process the information while growing, he wants structures and models… that’s why you have this desire to learn hangul and read it, you’re brain wants more!!! But, in linguistics there’s a thing called “segment”, that permets in any language to indentify where start a word and where it ends.
Basically, if you’re going to start writing in other typography and you feel like you know enough words to identify them (not by meaning… that comes after, just by sight or by ear), i guess there’s not a lot of problems, in fact that’s a great way to learn new vocabulary ‘cuz you notice the words in betwen! But careful, if you DON’T, you could finish frustrated…
That’s why i love the handbook we used, they familiarize us with hangul without being a torture for our brain!!! Maybe we don’t know how to write it or read it, but you’ll see.. you’re going to remember patterns while writing, that you didn’t even kwow you were learning!
Hope it helps… Ü
Hi!!!
I really really love you guys, love Korea and love languages!!! I’m glad you do this magnificent job. I’m in lesson 3 and i feel like i have already learned a lot! Thank you!
By the way, i’m doing a degree in teaching laungages (specially french and spanish), and i have to say you’re very pro in what you’re doing (even more than some people i know in the world of teaching, hehe…) I’m amazed how well you prepare the lessons and even more (super important hehe) how you guys care about us! Almost nobody think of that. Again… GAM-SA-HAP-NI-DA!!!!
Greetings from Mexico! Ü
Hello, I have a question about typing in 한글. Maybe I am typing something like 괜궨찮아요 but instead I accidentally type 괜찬ㄹ because ㅎ and ㄹ are right next to each other on the keyboard. If I use backspace, it will delete all of 찬 instead of letting me add the ㅎ at the end. Is there a way to modify already-completed syllables instead of delete them? Since I’m still learning the layout on keyboard I make this sort of mistake with many words.
Thanks for all the help provided on this site. It has been wonderful!
AW, annyeong haseyo this website is so cool and useful :D favor please ?can i have favor please translate my name —–> Celina in Korean Hangul and Romanize? Kamsahamnida. ^^
Hi to all TTMK staffs
I’m so glad my friend shared to me this TTMK.we always have problem on how to express our thoughts at work in korean. I learned only a little korean but my friend didnt.since she had bigger problem in understanding korean at work, she tried to browse some korean learning sites and come up to TTMK. she shared to me,.i listened and was delighted to hear the lesson.the topic was “kajang”. now i use this site to learn more –korean speaking.yes its an easy way to learn korean..and i discovered there are smart teachers here.besides,my boyfriend says i must have to learn korean cuz he’s going to marry me,.lol
I can say this site is very useful to anyone who tries to speak korean like me.

What does the verb “가고프다” in “화장실 가고픔” mean? Can’t find it in dictionary. Thought it’d mean the same as “가고 싶다”.
가고프다 means “to want to go”. 가고픔 is the noun form of the verb “가고프다”.
Yeah, the meaning is same as “가고 싶다”. Nowadays, we don’t often use “가고프다” in daily conversation.
can i ask about the au-pairs in korea and how to do/apply it ^^ ?
Hi Mai,
Well, I don’t know well about au-pairs. However, why don’t you search it through internet?
