Hyunwoo Sun( 선현우 )

Hi, everyone. My name is Hyunwoo Sun (선현우). I was born and raised here in Korea and I am still living in Korea, but I LOVE learning foreign languages so I have learned (and am still learning) English, Japanese, French, Chinese and Spanish, and I’m planning to learn more. With the help of some really awesome people, I made this place with the goal of making it easier for learners of the Korean language to continue learning without giving up. I hope you will enjoy learning with us, and I’d love to hear from you about how we can make this site and our lessons better! Thank you!

    Hola!!
I just want to thank you guys for all the effort your doing! I read you loved languages, so do i, (just starting korean… so excited!!!)
Now, I know you also speak spanish so… GRACIAS por crear esta página para nosotros!

Learning and teaching languages is my life, also i always learn the body language of the culture (really important, you can avoid problems with the people, jeje…) and if you’re intersted i could tell you some of the signs we use in spanish here in Mexico and almost all Latinoamerica. For example i saw your video for practicing numbers in spanish, i noticed you count starting with the thumb, we start with the index finger, the thumb is the last we raise jiji
Si algún día tu esposa y tu quieren visitar México, no duden en contactarme. Estaría encantada de ser su guía turistica.

    Saludos desde Guadalajara, Mex. Ü

I want to ask if neun/ eun of i/ga is really needed in constructing a sentence in korea or is it all right if I dont use neun/eun or i/ga?

    • Sabie says: February 3, 2012

Yes it is needed! i/ga is a subject marker. It is written after a word, eg, Kabang(means bag in Korean) to show that “kabang” is the SUBJECT in a particular sentence. So it becomes “Kabangi”.

Let’s say the sentence is “I have a bag”. In korean the sentence is “Kabangi isseoyo”. So the kabang(bag) with the “i” at the back indicates that it is the subject in the sentence.

“i” is used when the subject ends with a consonant. For eg, Kabang last a “g” as its last consonant. Hence you use “i”. However, “ga” is used when the subject ends with a vowel.

      I hope you understand! :)

Thank you for this wonderful website that you guys created! I came here in Korea 2009 and will be here until 2014. Eventhough I speak English on a daily basis, being able to speak Korean while I’m here in Korea is a big help especially during weekends when I want to explore the beauty of Korea, or when I go shopping, eat out, etc. I really appreciate your effort being my virtual Korean 선생님!
