Hyunwoo Sun( 선현우 )

Hi, everyone. My name is Hyunwoo Sun (선현우). I was born and raised here in Korea and I am still living in Korea, but I LOVE learning foreign languages so I have learned (and am still learning) English, Japanese, French, Chinese and Spanish, and I’m planning to learn more. With the help of some really awesome people, I made this place with the goal of making it easier for learners of the Korean language to continue learning without giving up. I hope you will enjoy learning with us, and I’d love to hear from you about how we can make this site and our lessons better! Thank you!

If you are interested in reading about some other things that I am up to, please visit http://HyunwooSun.com.

    I recently returned from living in 대구, Korea for a year. I was teaching English there, but I never really had time to sit down and learn the language for some reason! I decided to start at the basics, and I stumbled upon your web site. It’s been a really big help for me :)

    감사합니다!

Please feel free to give examples if you want.Jongmal Kamshamida!!!:D

    First of all, thank you guys for doing such a great job. I have read what you wrote above, and I have an advice(or suggestion you can call it) for you(since you enjoy learning foreign languages), maybe you should try learning the Arabic language…it is a one of a kind, quite challenging, and 22 countries speak it!
    thank you for your efforts,
    H2O

    Hi! You are really great! Your English doesn’t have a hint of any accent at all, plus your vocabulary is wide. I just started to learn Korean last Friday, so this is my 5th day of learning. So far, so nice. I have learned so many things already. My boyfriend is starting to hate you for me listening to you everyday… hahaha.. anyways, I hope to meet you when I go there in the near future (fingers crossed)

    Hi Hyunwoo,
    Decided to stop by and tell how much I like what you guys (you & your team) are doing. I’ve started to learn Korean by myself some time ago, but because of my work and studies couldn’t really find enough time to just seat and study Korean textbooks. And then, just accidentally (thnx to my Australian friend on FB), I found out about your website and HaruKorean as well. Now….I do have time to go through some lessons during my lunch time at work:))). And I can tell you for sure that these lessons are of great help to me. Thanks a lot and, please, continue with what you’ve been doing so far!

    P.S. Your English is amazing! I wonder how many years have you spent on learning it up to this level?? :) And, by the way, have you ever considered studying Russian language? (curious ’cause it’s my native one). Take care!

    • Hyunwoo Sun (선현우) says: December 6, 2011

      Marina : )

      Thanks a lot!!! ^_^ I haven’t really started studying Russian yet but I’d love to add it to the list of languages I speak! And I think I spent about two years “seriously” studying it and after that, I’ve just been using it a lot and reading a lot in it. : ) Please say thanks to your Australian friend for letting you know about us!

  16. Cara says: December 6, 2011

    안녕하세요~
    I just found this site last week and I’m just…floored. This site really makes learning Korean really fun. I’m really grateful that you all put so much time and effort into this! I’m glad to see that there are a lot of people just like me that love languages. ;w;
    학생 여요! o: Estoy aprendando espanol y frances. Y yo se un poco de japones tambien, pero yo aprendi solo. I’m taking actual school courses for French and Spanish, though.
    I want to be able to…break the barriers between myself and the rest of the world, and I’m determined to learn as much as I could. Korean is really refreshing after studying just romance languages for the past two years. All of my friends and family think that I’m crazy for trying to seriously go for a third language to learn- especially since I’m only in my second year of high school and have other work to worry about too- but I am already proving them wrong by adding Korean phrases that I now know how to say to daily conversations, or just saying to myself “i cha massiseoyo” as I drink my tea, or something along those lines (which isn’t really a new concept to me, seeing as I always speak in Spanish to my family and friends. Hehe.ㅣD).

    Well, yeah. I just wanted to thank you again! 감사합니다! 8D Ustedes son profesores muy divertidos~

    • Hyunwoo Sun (선현우) says: December 6, 2011

      Cara, I’m very happy you found us and glad to hear that you find our lessons fun! Please keep it up and keep on studying! I don’t know when that would be but I’ll be looking forward to talking to you in person in Korean, English, Spanish, French and Japanese when I meet you in Korea! : )

    • Cara says: December 7, 2011

      I definitely will!
      ..and I just noticed that I made a mistake before. “jeo haksaeng ieyo” is what I meant to say, but I was more focused on trying to find where everything was on my keyboard than actually making sure it was right. >u>;;
      Well, thanks again~ 8D

I hope that when I’ve graduated and had time to learn more, I can start a site like yours’ to help teach people around the world languages. 제가 당신에게 영감을 받습니다. 고맙습니다! 화이팅! 안녕하세요! 선생님, can you please recommend some good movies/tv shows that i can watch to help with my listening skills? I live in the philippines and there aren’t that many people around who can speak korean, and when I was learning tagalog (I’m a native english speaker) i found that watching tv really helped a lot in my listening skills. I’m looking for good quality movies or tv shows. Action movies would be preferable, but romance and comedy would be nice as well. 감사합니다!
