Hello teacher Kyeong-eun (안녕하세요! 경은 선생님),

I am really a big fan of Kim Tae Hee and somehow when I saw pictures of you posted on your facebook, there are angles of you that resembles her. Please take this as a compliment… :-)

    Have a great day!

PS. How will I say “How good or bad words affect your day?” in Korean. I hope this isn’t a big trouble..

Thank you so much for you time..

Hello Teacher Kyeong Eun, (안녕하세요! 경은, 선생님)

My favorite Korean actress is Kim Tae Hee and somehow when I look at your photos posted on facebook, there are certain angles that you resemble to her. Please take this as a compliment. :-)

Anyway, how will I say “How good or bad words affect your day?” in Korean?

Thank you so much for your time.

I’m still learning and at level 2. Busy schedule is hindering me but I always insert a little time to learn hangeul.

    Best regards from the Philippines,

    Rutch

    Hi Kyeong-eun,
Nice to meet you! First of all, sorry for repeating many previous writers, but on these pictures you do look gorgeous (it’s a sincere compliment) :). And thanks a lot for what you’re doing. Since I’ve just started learning Korean through your web-site, I’m currently on level one, but I’m already in love with your and Hyunwoo’s lesson dialogues. You guys are so funny and cute when explaining that serious study material (it’s another sincere compliment)…Please, keep doing what you’ve been doing so far! Hope, my comment will sound like an encouragement to you^^.

    Cheers,

P.S. By the way, your English-speaking skills are amazing! :)

Annyeonghaseyo Kyeong-eun eonnie! You look so cute! I love your podcast and you’re a great teacher! I have a question. What would I call an adult or teacher like you? For example eonnie (or unnie, I’m not sure which one it is) is what a girl calls an older girl. I’m a little girl (11) so what would I call you?(Besides ‘Teacher’) I’m sorry if calling you unnie is disrespectful. I’m still a level 1 student but I know a lot of Korean because of K-pop! Please reply. Gamsahamnida! ♥

  32. David Hodgson says: January 6, 2012

    Dear Kyeong-eun Choi,

I’ll keep this short and simple. My girlfriend is from Korea and I’m from Australia and I have been learning Korean while I have been away working and she has been at our home, these lessons have been a great help, I can have a small conversation with her and I am only up to level 1 lesson 15. I’m looking foward to furthering my Korean language skills over time. I’m going over to Korea to visit her parents and family for the first time and I’m rather nervous about it. Is there a certain way I must greet them like a handshake etc. and is there a certain word I must call her father or mother. I’m rather concerned being a forigner that I may offend them with what would be considered polite in Australia or that I am a forigner trying to address them in Korean as a Korean would, would they find this offensive? I’ve talked to my girlfriend about this and she is unsure, obviously she knows how it all works with respect to Korean culture, but she is unsure about me because I would be considered a forigner.
    Any advice would be fantastic.

    Thank you.
    David Hodgson.

P.S. To every one there at TTMIK great work keep it up, lessons are not only helpful and easy to understand, but I really enjoy the culture talks. I suprise my girlfriend a lot with what I know about Korean culture because of these.
